Kevin Dempsey and Jacqui McShee
22/03/2019 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Friday 22nd March 2019 – we welcomed Kevin Dempsey and Jacqui McShee as a duo to the Hinckley ACT for the first time.
One of only two chances to see McShee and Dempsey perform together in 2019!
About Kevin Dempsey and Jacqui McShee
Jacqui McShee and Kevin Dempsey started working together when he was invited to play with Pentangle at the New Forest Folk Festival in July 2017. After this success they went on to the concert held in homage to Bert Jansch at Queens Hall, Edinburgh in August of the same year.
They got on well and so decided to play some gigs as a duo, working in Italy in May and August 2018, and also as sup- port for Steeleye Span in Liverpool dur- ing their autumn tour. More gigs in the UK and abroad are planned for 2019 along with a CD of new material.
Jacqui McShee was a founder member of Pentangle, formed in early 1967 with the renowned guitarists Bert Jansch and John Renbourn. After the band folded in 1973 she continued working with John to form the John Renbourn Band and also performing with him as a duo until his untimely death. Jacqui formed her own version of Pentangle in 1994 and continues to work in that format, as well as with Alan Thomson and Gerry Conway, as the trio, Take 3.
Kevin Dempsey is a guitarist, singer-songwriter, composer, teacher, arranger and producer. Over forty five years he has literally toured the world and played with jazz, blues and folk musicians from Percy Sledge and Alice Coltrane to Mary Black and Whippersnapper with Dave Swarbrick.
Currently Kevin is working with Joe Broughton, Carolyn Robson and Paul Hutchinson, but most of his time is dedicated to solo work and he has spent summer 2018 touring Germany, Austria and Italy.
