About Eleanor Turner
Since her London concerto debut at the age of fifteen, with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields conducted by Daniel Harding, British harpist Eleanor Turner has been earning a worldwide reputation for her recital, concerto and chamber music performances.
Recently, Eleanor has performed at the Berlin Philharmonie Kammermusiksaal, the Musiekgeouw Aant Ij in Amsterdam, the Wigmore Hall in London and she is looking forward to performances this Summer (2014) in New Orleans and Sydney. Eleanor has won numerous international awards.
In the 2007 European Harp Competition she won First Prize, at the Dutch Harp Competition in 2010 Eleanor won Third Prize and the Peutz Audience Award and a year later, Second Prize in the Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition in Amsterdam.
Nowadays, Eleanor enjoys sharing her wealth of experience with her students and mentoring them through their own challenges, whilst continuing to study with many great musicians internationally. Eleanor studied with Daphne Boden at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, then later with Alison Nicholls; hugely inspiring preparation for a lifetime of music.
Eleanor is constantly innovating with the harp, creating and commissioning new music for both the acoustic and electro-acoustic harps.
To this purpose, Eleanor has been awarded funds by The Tillett Trust, the PRS Foundation for New Music, the Musicians Benevolent Fund and the Wingate Scholarship.
