About Flossie Malavialle
Flossie Malavialle is a French singer who started getting involved on the folk scene in 2001 while she was on a teachers’ exchange in the North East of England.
In the last 9 years, her profile has gone from strength to strength, playing at folk clubs and festivals all over the UK and beyond.
Her collection of 9 albums is a reminder of how much work and dedication she has put into her music career: from well established folk songs to jazz standards, blues numbers to Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel’s classics, her wide répertoire always seems to suit every taste.
She was chosen by successful folk duo Show of Hands to support their 2009 County Town Autumn Tour and has been acknowledged as an upcoming talent on BBC radio 2 by Mike Harding who chose to play her live rendition of Jacques Brel’s “Amsterdam” and described it as one of the best versions he had ever heard.
She also supported Fairport Convention on their major UK “Wintour” between January and March 2010. She teamed up with Keith Donnelly for the occasion; together they are known as “Dark Horses”. Their eponymous album, which is a collection of Keith’s compositions sung by Flossie, has been available since the end of January 2010. Flossie started 2011 with a bang with her first ever solo European tour where she performed in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands in January and then she did an extensive tour of Australia with Keith between March and May where they both had a fantastic, successful time!
In 2012, she toured Holland for 10 days with Chris Parkinson and Scotland solo for a week. She also recorded her 10th album with Paul Donnelly to celebrate her 10 years living in the UK. The album is called X and has been available since the end of October 2012. If you would like to find out more about Flossie’s albums, upcoming concerts and more, go to www.flossie-malavialle.co.uk
