About Jon Sanders

His composition draws on elements of jazz, gypsy, funk, arabic, latino and Celtic styles, somewhat reminiscent of Sylvain Luc, Pierre Bensusan, Antonio Forcione and James Hill yet instantly different. He has developed the ngoni uke, a hybrid Mali small ngoni and ukelele, and the guizouki, a bouzouki/guitar fusion instrument. These are used extensively in his new album, Zoukelele.

He is one of the driving forces behind the eclectic Alpaca Social Club/Beyondsemble  that appeared at WOMAD NZ 2013. He also regularly performs with members of the leading classical NZ Indian music scene under the banner East meets West and last year joined “Welcoming the Stranger” as a musical director in Ireland- a dance and music show that embraces culture from nations torn apart by war and issues of refugees. This show will head to Palestine in April 2017 to perform at the international dance festival in Ramallah.

Graham Wardrop

Friday 17th August 2012. There was a warm welcome back to the Hinckley ACT in Leicestershire for the Christchurch based, New Zealand singer song-writer, guitarist and luthier.

“Wardrop is special and his musicianship and persona are to be treasured” Nelson Mail.

Graham has received rave reviews for his tributes to Bob Dylan and the Beatles but his own songs are equally dazzling, sophisticated and beautifully produced.

About Graham Wardrop…

Graham has been acclaimed as New Zealand’s finest finger style guitarist. After thirty years in the professional arena, he is regularly called upon to give concert performances, to play on television and studio recording sessions, to hold workshops in advanced fingerstyle techniques for steel string guitar, along with providing atmospheric music in sophisticated dining situations.

Graham has performed solo and alongside some of the world’s finest musicians, dazzling audiences at countless festivals, concerts and corporate functions.

Not only does Graham maintain a busy performance schedule, but he also handcrafts instruments on which he performs.

He is a musician of great versatility and his love of balance, harmony and precision culminates in his richness of sound and a unique style of performance.

Since moving back to New Zealand in 1984 a solo career has been pursued. Graham has continued to write songs, to compose instrumental guitar solos and to record in his home based studio in Christchurch. He now has five solo CDs to his credit and a live CD ‘Live Takes’ with long time friend and one of New Zealand’s great piano playing vocalists, Elizabeth Braggins. His passion for the guitar also extends to the craft of luthiery and most of the instruments he plays these days he has built himself.
