Wakeman and Giltrap headed afternoon of musical excellence

A phenomenal afternoon’s entertainment came at the Hinckley ACT Festival of music 2010 at the Sketchley Grange Hotel – with very special guests Rick Wakeman, Gordon Giltrap, Michael Chapman, Steve Hicks & Lynn Goulbourn.

Rick Wakeman
The star of the show provided the most compelling combination of music and comedy, the former including a selection from “Six Wives of Henry VIII” through to nursery rhymes in the styles of famous composers.

And of course in between, the audience enjoyed an amazing array of true (and very amusing) stories and anecdotes, all delivered with the style of an accomplished comedian. Be sure to catch Rick on his forthcoming tour with Jon Anderson.

Gordon Giltrap
impressed as ever, with a combination of original guitar pieces, several of which were from his new album Shining Morn, which is available to buy online. His polished performance included two of his most famous tracks “Heartsong” and “Lucifer’s Cage – the latter played during a well-deserved encore.

Gordon, like his good friend Rick, intersperses the musical elements with amusing banter and wry observations: again a hugely entertaining combination.

Steve Hicks & Lynn Goulbourn
The show began with the compelling combination of Steve Hicks and Lynn Goulbourn, showcasing wonderful instrumental guitar skills combined with soulful and moving vocals.

Michael Chapman
demonstrated why he is perhaps the most popular regular performer at the Hinckley ACT (this is his fifth performance!), with a belting array of blues tunes from his extensive repertoire.
